Ross Planetary Dual Dispersers for Processing Flexibility

Ross says its Planetary Dual Disperser Mixer (PDDM) is a robust mixer offering good shear intensity and rapid dispersion of dry powders into viscous batches. With this system, it is said solid additions can be made quickly and efficiently thanks to two stainless steel, high-viscosity stirrer blades and two high-speed shafts with sawtooth dispersers.
The mixer is well suited for materials requiring both kneading and high-speed/high-shear dispersion. When equipped with removable disperser shafts, the mixer can be used as a regular double planetary mixer for processing even more viscous applications, including very stiff, dough-like formulations that rely more on a purely kneading action.
The unit is equipped with two helical planetary stirrers, one of which includes a bottom scraper. Two sawtooth blades are installed on each high-speed shaft. A scraper arm removes material from the vessel wall to ensure good heat transfer during the mixing process. High-speed dispersion can take place in the same mix vessel that will be used to blend in shear sensitive, viscosity-building components.
Capacities range from 1 to 750 gallons. Available options include jacketing for heating or cooling, vacuum or pressure, vari speed drives and more. Sizes range from lab scale to full production models.
