EOS and Under Armour announced their strategic new partnership at the 2017 Formnext trade fair in Frankfurt, Germany. Hoping to advance commercial 3D-printed footwear, the two organizations will jointly work to scale Under Armour’s footwear business through the development of advanced laser sintering technology, leveraging EOS’s expertise in additive manufacturing (AM).

“With EOS’s industry-leading laser sintering 3D-printing technology, Under Armour can deliver shoes to the marketplace in a meaningful way, creating truly amazing, desirable products which solve our customers’ needs in ways that could have never been imagined before. Together, our two organizations make a formidable pair,” says Under Armour chief innovation officer Clay Dean.

Among the many aspects of the partnership, Under Armour will utilize EOS technology for 3D printing powder-based parts, and the two companies will work in concert on the development of polymer powder and on advanced laser sintering. Under Armour will also collaborate with EOS’s Additive Minds expert services to elevate Under Armour’s AM program.
