HB 400 Molybdenum Wire EDM Machine for Metal Additive Manufacturing
IMTS 2022: The HB 400 Molybdenum Wire EDM machine is a 4-axis service system, medium-speed wire cutting machine designed to help users achieve the best surface finish with maximum efficiency and nonelectrolytic power supply technology.
The HB 400 Molybdenum Wire EDM machine from EDM Performance Accessories is a cutoff solution for Metal additive manufacturing (AM). The company says it is well suited for machining both steel and aluminum parts, offering impressive axis travels, durability and reliability.
The 4-axis service system, medium-speed wire cutting machine is designed to help users achieve the best surface finish with maximum efficiency and nonelectrolytic power supply technology. The four-axis (X, Y, U and V) AC servo integrates with low-speed wire cutting technology and combines a four-axis ball screw and linear guide to provide accuracy and improved taper machining performance.
It is said the platform meets the national standard for medium-speed wire cutting EDM. The use of a dual-frequency laser interferometer, three-coordinate measuring instrument, ball-bar, geometric accuracy measuring instrument and other high-precision testing instruments along with inspection and test procedures are said to help ensure quality products. The machine tool is equipped with a high-brightness LED light and an optional working condition indicator light, enabling users to ascertain the running state of the equipment any time.
The truss-type structure of the U and V axes is said to help ensure high mechanical accuracy. Two ways of wire threading meet different machining needs and are said to help prolong the guider’s service life. Unified locating datum is used for the guide wheel, making it easy to be replaced, the company says.
The machine also features centralized lubrication. Screws of guide rails are lubricated by a lubricating pump to make machine maintenance more convenient, while waste oil is collected in a centralized manner to keep the workshop clean. According to the company, the frame-shaped, water-retaining structure prevents cutting fluid leakage in the machining area to keep the work environment clean.
The elevating manger can be lowered to “0” without being opened or removed, making it more convenient to set workpieces and save space. Built-in programming graphics automatically prepare machining code programs and multiple CPU functions realize simultaneous machining and programming.
