America Makes Announces Election of Executive Committee Members

The group’s focus is to ensure that the appropriate strategy, policy and advocacy are in place for the organization to achieve its mission — to accelerate the adoption of additive manufacturing and strengthen the nation’s global manufacturing competitiveness.

America Makes, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, recently elected newly members of its Executive Committee, which includes some of the brightest minds from industry, academia, government, workforce and economic development organizations.

The group’s focus is to ensure that the appropriate strategy, policy and advocacy are in place for America Makes to achieve its mission — to accelerate the adoption of additive manufacturing (AM) and the nation’s global manufacturing competitiveness.

Members are said to understand the current and future state of the industry, and provide counsel to the institute on data management and IP policy, technical scope, membership value and outreach, ecosystem development and partnership strategies, workforce education and training, and support strategic growth efforts.

The committee meets regularly and consists of three appointed government representatives and eight representatives elected from three sectors within its membership community — nonprofit, academia and industry. Each elected member serves a two-year term.

The first order of business for the executive committee will be to elect a chairperson and secretary.

America Makes is the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute. As the national accelerator for AM, America Makes is the nation’s leading and collaborative partner in AM and 3DP technology research, discovery, creation and innovation. Structured as a public-private partnership with member organizations from industry, academia, government and nongovernment agencies as well as workforce and economic development resources, it works to innovate and accelerate AM to increase the nation’s global manufacturing competitiveness. Based in Youngstown, Ohio, America Makes is the first Institute within the Manufacturing USA infrastructure and is driven by the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM).
