Often the truism “It’s not what you know, but who you know,” is correct. Well, I know Pete Zelinski and Christina Fuges, which is a good thing for those of you interested in learning more about additive manufacturing (AM). Pete and Christina are my colleagues at sister publications Modern Machine Shop and Moldmaking Technology, respectively.

One of their missions over the past couple of years has been to cover the emergence of AM, also called 3D printing, as it moves from lab to shop floor. They have made the visits to conferences, OEMs and shops that are involved in the process.

A result of all this is a website that acts as an up-to-date repository for what is being done within this industry. In my travels, there seems to be interest in what AM is about and how it might play a role in the businesses that Production Machining reaches.

If you are interested in knowing more about AM, this site is a convenient and objective place for you to evaluate the technology as it relates to your current or future manufacturing needs. Maybe it’s something for you, maybe not, but helping you make an informed decision is what this site is about.

I’ve also included this link to an article from Pete that explains AM.
