Additive Manufacturing Industry Summit Lands in Dayton, Ohio

A new additive manufacturing event is launching in the Midwest this year, the Additive Manufacturing Industry Summit (AMIS), to be held in Dayton, Ohio, September 20-22. The goal of this summit is to demonstrate the power of additive manufacturing for real-world applications, including its long- and short-term benefits and how to move the technology into actionable, production-ready applications.

The first day of AMIS consists of optional lab sessions on subjects such as 3D scanning and topology optimization. Days two and three feature more than 25 sessions in two tracks, one focused on design and development for AM, and the other on real-world applications of AM technology. Speakers include representatives of suppliers such as Concept Laser, Autodesk and Cincinnati Inc.; service bureaus like Tangible Solutions; and researchers from the University of Dayton and Wright State University; as well as OEMs such as Honda, GE and Caterpillar. The inaugural event is especially focused on additive manufacturing work being done in the industrial, medical, defense and aerospace fields. This focus is supported by its location in Dayton, a hub of traditional manufacturing especially with regard to aerospace and aviation. The conference takes place at the Hope Hotel and Richard C. Holbrooke Conference Center, located on the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base southeast of the city.
