The Additive Manufacturer Green Trade Association (AMGTA) — a global trade organization created to promote the environmental benefits of additive manufacturing (AM) — has named Sherri Monroe its new executive director, effective immediately.

Monroe’s nonprofit experience includes roles as the regional chief development officer and executive director of the American Red Cross, as well as the program marketing and community engagement manager for the American Cancer Society. In addition, she has worked in the for-profit innovation space, most recently in support of Siemens Energy in Orlando, Florida.

“I am thrilled to be joining the AMGTA at this critical point in its development,” Monroe says. “Additive manufacturing has the potential to be transformational in how we sustainably manufacture, and it is our role at the AMGTA to help unlock this potential through rigorous research and industry outreach.”

The AMGTA was launched in November 2019 to promote the environmental benefits of AM over traditional methods of manufacturing. The AMGTA is a noncommercial, unaffiliated organization open to any additive manufacturer or industry stakeholder worldwide that meets certain criteria relating to sustainability of production or process.

“Sherri’s proven leadership in both the nonprofit and for-profit worlds is the perfect background for our executive director role,” says Brian Neff, AMGTA’s board chair. “I am looking forward to working with her as she continues the remarkable growth of our organization.”
