In its seventh year, Formnext 2021 welcomed the international additive manfacturing (AM) community to Frankfurt, Germany, Nov. 16-19. Following last year’s online-only event, attendance for 2021 surpassed organizers‘ expectations with more than 600 exhibitors from 36 countries, 17,859 specialists and executives from 76 nations.
The exhibition featured a series of world premieres throughout the entire process chain, demonstrating expanding fields of AM applications and its future potential. Exhibitors and attendees also offered solutions to urgent and important future issues such as decentralized production, secure process chains, efficiency and sustainability.
“It is really impressive to see how many new machines, materials and applications had been launched during the show,” says Andrea Buccelli, CEO at AMD Engineering.
An important part of the event occurred the day before Formnext opened as more than 120 participants attended the premiere of the first ASTM Standards Forum, supported by the USCS, ISO and Formnext. This successful launch underlines the importance of transatlantic efforts to create joint standards, organizers say, with the Standards Forum slated to return in 2022.
Formnext 2021 continues online with Formnext Digital Days Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, giving both exhibitors and visitors the opportunity to explore the content presented in greater depth and focus on additional areas. In addition to business matchmaking and a comprehensive directory of AM solution providers, international attendees can expect a full program, including live keynotes, panel discussions and interviews.
“After four successful days at Formnext 2021 in Frankfurt, we are really looking forward to extend the trade fair and getting in touch with our customers also digitally within the Formnext Digital Days this year,” says Damien Buchbinder, head of product management additive manufacturing at Trumpf.
During the show, organizers announced the launch of Formnext USA, a Chicago event which will be held April 8-10, 2025 at McCormick Place, in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Mesago Messe Frankfurt (the organizers of Formnext) and Messe Frankfurt USA have formed a strategic partnership with AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology and Gardner Business Media to create a new show in the U.S. dedicated to all aspects of industrial additive manufacturing.
Formnext 2022 is set to take place in Frankfurt Nov. 15-18, 2022.
