Large fiber-reinforced composite parts are typically made using molds, but building these molds can be an expensive, time-consuming process. Massivit 3D hopes to expedite production and reduce the cost of making molds for composite parts with its Cast-in-Motion (CIM) technology. Ginger Gardiner, senior editor of Additive Manufacturing’s sister publication CompositesWorld, spoke with the company’s North American president, Kevin Sykes, at the 2021 Composites and Advanced Materials Expo (CAMX). Watch the video below to see Sykes explain how the technology works to reduce mold production time from weeks or even months to days.
